Three days to discover the Mâconnais

Promenade dans les paysages du Mâconnais

Three days offer just the right pace for discovering the Mâconnais without rushing: one day among the vines, another combining landscapes and experiences, then a final day devoted to heritage. This itinerary can be adapted to the season, the weather and your preferences.

Day 1: enter the vineyard landscape

Villages and vines as a first impression

Begin by gaining height and observing the contours: here, vineyard plots, villages and rocks create an instantly recognisable landscape. To understand its nuances, book the Mâconnais Wine Tour. For approximately three hours, Maison Vitis drives you along vineyard roads before a private estate visit and tasting.

Your first evening at Maison Vitis

Back at the house, settle into your chosen room. The names of our five rooms already evoke the landscapes and heritage of Southern Burgundy: Solutré, Fuissé, Cluny, Cormatin and Lamartine.

Day 2: Solutré and the Maison Vitis experiences

Walk below or climb to the top of the rock

The Rock of Solutré is a natural highlight of the stay. Adapt the walk to your pace and take time to observe the surrounding vineyards. To plan your day, browse our suggestions in Our favourite places and must-sees in Southern Burgundy.

Taste or create

In the afternoon, continue with a tasting of Mâconnais and Beaujolais wines. Four wines introduce the grape varieties, appellations, geology and history of these neighbouring vineyards. If you prefer a hands-on activity, painting with wine turns the discovery into a creative experience.

Day 3: heritage and characterful villages

Cluny, Cormatin or a quieter road

For your final day, choose one direction rather than a long list. Cluny invites you to follow the thread of history, while Cormatin and the surrounding villages extend your journey into a more intimate Burgundy. The Cluny l’abbatiale or Les jardins de Cormatin room may even set the tone for your stay.

This itinerary is deliberately flexible: what matters is leaving room for encounters, a wine-estate door opened on impulse and quiet moments at Maison Vitis.
